"Award Winning Thyroid Advocate!"
ISSUE 110, 8th September 2022
β
Introduction
β
Welcome, Thyroid Family, to Issue 110 of The Free Thyroid Family Newsletter.
β
I turned 29-years-old today. π
β
I am always grateful for another birthday. It is a privilege to age and do another dance around the sun. βοΈ
β
On my birthday 11 years ago, I was unconscious for most of the day, on life support and in intensive care. It was the start of my health βissuesβ and autoimmune hypothyroidism really ramping up.
β
Iβve come a long way in that time and Iβm thankful to still be around and be continually building the life I envisaged 11 years ago when I turned 18 and left hospital in a really sick place. I knew things had to change back then and Iβve come so far on them up to today.
β
In the last year, I have also seen a big house move and another pregnancy, two things which has definitely taken their toll on my health at times. But we keep on learning and evolving.
β
I am also super excited to share that I won the Social Health Award I was nominated for! Soooo thankful to put thyroid issues in the spotlight. Read more on this award win here!
β
As we go through the sudden change of seasons at this time of year, it can be useful to reflect on any daily habits you have which may be hindering your ability to feel well. Check out my article 4 Habits to Address to Get Back into a Thyroid Healthy Routine for some tips.
β
βThis newsletter issue is titled "Award Winning Thyroid Advocate!" in regards to this exciting news, however, it also includes information on other thyroid related news, discounts, tips and advice, and links to my most popular social media posts from the last fortnight. Enjoy reading!
β
π¦ π¦ π¦ And remember: if you find this free newsletter useful, you can upgrade to the premium version here and support the work I do as a thyroid advocate, so I can continue putting thyroid information out in to the world. π¦ π¦ π¦

Social Health Awards Winner!
β
As my husband and I tuned in to the Social Health online awards event, PJβs on, homemade pizza in hand and our two children snoozing in bed, they announced I was the winner for the award βSocial Media Masterβ my audience had nominated me for last month.
β
β
Itβs not always easy to explain what my work is, as it encompasses so much and is always evolving to serve the thyroid patient community. Iβm an author of books, a writer of website articles, blogger, content creator, I produce both free and paid-for email newsletters, I appear on podcasts, radio and tv, Iβm a board member for and I run a Facebook support group for thyroid patients (with my incredible team of moderators) with over 100,000 people inβ¦ Patient advocacy is a passion.
β
A passion because Iβve seen the change it can bring. Thyroid disease is vastly misunderstood, often ignored, belittled and shrugged off.

Thyroid Cancer Awareness Month β September 2022
β
Every year, September is Thyroid Cancer Awareness Month!
β
β
This annual event was created to spread awareness of the symptoms and effects of thyroid cancer and the importance of early diagnosis and treatment. There are a lot of misconceptions surrounding thyroid disease, and thyroid cancer is no different!
β
No, it is not βthe good cancerβ.
